4 Southern African Countries give sustainable finance the go ahead

Namibia joins South Africa, Mozambique and Swaziland this week when it approved the use of the Southern African Renewable Energy Programme (SARE) for Namibian project developers.  By authorising the programme for use in Namibia local project developers will now be able to access the benefits of the CDM carbon market without the usual administrative hassle, significant upfront costs and complex rules.  Under the SARE programme developers of renewable energy plants that provide power to the grid will be able to secure revenue from the sale of carbon credits.
